Our little pond

My son and I got our pond up and running the other day and
this duck came in for a swim! She does a lap or two then preens her feathers on the rocks. I never really thought of our little pond as being fit for ducks but this one seems right at home.

Here's my drawing of our filter. It's big for our pond but the man at the store said "you can't over filter" so we went with the big one.

We got a new combination pump and fountain too! I'll post a photo once we get the fountain up and running.

I've been working in the garden

The view from our deck looking down into the garden.
I pruned the grapevine and willow and added the sticks to my ball--it's a work in progress.

I did draw too.... just didn't get those uploaded.... YET.

I took three of these "Tumblewood" balls for a show at the Lancaster Museum of Art over the weekend and they were photographed and included in a newspaper blog post!

Spring comes to Pennsylvania..... at last!

I took a "wildflower walk" in the woods at our Lancaster County Park this week.
Things are just beginning to turn towards green.

These are the first leaves of a "Trout lily" . They do look kind of fish-like... you think?

The white flower is "Blood root".......cut the root and it's supposed to have a red color.

So many interesting trees! This one has lots of nubbly knots.... some of them looked like eyes to me.

Below is our little group ..... it was a cool day.... around 50 degrees.

Here's my drawing of the covered bridge where we all met.
This is a photo of the area. I sat on the bench at the left of the photo to draw.

Here's another view of the bridge. We have quite a few of these old covered bridges around our county. (though there are fewer and fewer as time goes on..... they are made of wood and tend to burn easily.
Time to get to the garden.........Happy Spring!
