I loved this "animal estate" at the front of the Whitney Museum of Art in Manhattan. It's meant for a barn owl and it is man-made. I think it is a wonderful blend of art and nature with a purpose. There is a plaque nearby that reads...
"Barn Owl. We will nest in any natural or human-made cavity that is big enough for our family. You can build an Animal estate for us on your property like the one above you. We have an appetite for the animals that you don't like. I was once spotted bringing sixteen mice, three gophers, a rat and a squirrel to my Estate in the span of just 25 minutes!"
I'm thrilled to see that barn owls live in Manhattan!!!!

The watercolors are striking! I love the reds! and the tree's greens....I'm envious !
Wonderful, especially the "Gerbera bouquet"!
Two beautiful paintings!! I can relate to your love of nature!
Last year there was a book in the Australian children Book Awards telling the story of the falcons that live in the city (a story based on fact).
Love your paintings.
I love both of the paintings--full of energy and restraint simultaneously, or so it seems to me! I especially admire your tree, it's linear, scratchy quality; it seems very Asian ...
I'm delighted by this post! Your sketches are absolutely fantastic. I adore the one of the daisies. You are really in your element this time of year!
Both of your paintings are delicate--lovely. I love nature paintings. What size are they? :)
It's great to hear from ALL of you. Thanks for visiting!
Sandra- I'll have to check out that book--sounds interesting!
Laura- you're so perceptive! That's just the way I feel when I paint sometimes--"full of energy
and restraint" like I have to hold back just a little--don't know if that's good or bad. :) but, thanks for your comment!
Laureline -- Thank you! I do love this time of the year--so much color!
Rita-- Thanks for your kind comments too. Both these sketches are 9x12.
Love to see more of your lovely paintings
