Funny Hats

I did these 2 fun hat drawings because I'll be missing the next 2 days. (My mother-in-law died and we are going out of town for the funeral. ) I'll be back on Saturday. Remember to enjoy your day.

Wite Out

This bottle of Wite Out caught my eye today. It just happened to be there I guess. I'm already learning to see the values of light and dark better than when I began this blog.

Had lunch with my Mom and Dad today. It always makes me feel so good to spend time with them!

Can you guess?

This drawing might be tough to figure out--here's a hint. "If you play a violin you may use it. " Leave a comment with your guess!

Made in Italy

This is a drawing of a small red leather change purse that I remember as a child. I think I "borrowed" it from my mother long ago. It has pretty gold butterflies printed on the front.

Hey! I'm back!!!!

Wonder of wonder... I got the camera to work again! Here's the drawing for today. It's our pond covered with ice and snow with a hole in the center created by the compressor. I can't wait to get out there in the garden.... come on spring!

OH NO!!!!

Musky the cat just knocked my camera on the floor and now it won't work!!! AHHHHHHH! I was just getting ready to post my drawing for today when it happened.
I don't have another camera or a scanner -- I'm crushed!

Guess I'll keep drawing every day anyway and when I figure it out I'll post again.

WAAAAAAAAAAA!

Musky the cat

Here is a pencil drawing of one of our cats. This is Muskatrap -- or Musky as we call him. The name came from the musical "Cats" This was a really quick sketch--about 10 minutes. He kept looking around and moving his head.

My Garden Gate

This is a drawing of my garden gate. I can see it from my desk in our living room. It's a great view of my garden and our little pond... which by the way has 4 big and 5 little goldfish surviving the winter. I just saw one swim by the hole we have in the ice. It is supposed to get warm - 45 degrees - tomorrow, so we'll see if it melts. Maybe that will be my drawing for tomorrow.

Orchid drawing

I'm going to post a drawing a day here. I plan to start now and continue through Lent. We will see how it goes.

This is a drawing of an orchid flower I received for Valentines day. It's a phalaenopsis or butterfly orchid named because of the way the flowers move when touched by a breeze.

My pile of rocks!

Robert Genn, author of the newsletter, The Painter’s Keys recently wrote about Obos, a Japanese term for a pile of rocks, often only three, one on top of another. He writes, “The obos merely says, "I was here." Being an unusual configuration, it is obviously from the hand of man. Further, if it is knocked down or desecrated, it is easily rebuilt. There can be one at the bottom of the garden or in a private corner of a public park."

"Obos is a destination, a sanctuary, a shrine and a focal point that reminds us that we work with our hands. We are builders and what we build is sacred. Obos may appear inconsequential and be unnoticed by a casual passersby. It's a private tribute to something higher, something we might be striving for but find difficult to attain. Approach obos with a relaxed, curious mind. It can help with answers to questions not consciously asked. Obos gives pause, a contemplative thought or a new direction, a respite from clutter, a rededication to our struggle and an affirmation of the value of our personal effort. Obos is the carrier of a golden secret. Obos is like art itself. "

So.... this is MY pile of rocks!
