A Japanese Maple lives outside our kitchen window. I've watched it turn flaming colors.
It was planted when my son was 3 years old. At the time it was about as tall as he was. Now it’s about 7 feet and he’s close to my height- 5′7″.
I’ve been watching the leaves fall and thinking how amazingly quick time passes.
Winter is on the way.
Above is my loose sketch and
Below is my tighter version
I did the tighter one first and thought it needed to loosen up a bit.
I think I like this 3rd version above the best.
And finally, now the leaves are mostly gone.
"I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape - the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn't show. "
